You should upload journal articles or conference proceedings (with an ISSN) - these types of outputs are covered by the REF Open Access Policy and must be made open access if they are to be used in REF2021.
Do not send the final published manuscripts or proof copies.
Please upload the accepted manuscript. The accepted manuscript is the final author-created version, incorporating peer-review changes but before any publisher work such as copy-editing or typesetting.
You can upload your accepted manuscript by simply going to www.openaccess.cam.ac.uk and clicking 'Upload manuscript'. You will then be prompted to login to Symplectic Elements. Click 'Accepted for Publication?' and follow the instructions.
Once you have successfully deposited your manuscript, we’ll check out the requirements and options and guide you through how to make it open access and compliant with funder policies. In many cases we can simply deposit your manuscript directly into Apollo without paying an open access fee - many journals support this free, 'green' open access route.
We are also happy to receive monographs, books and other book chapters and will upload them to the Apollo if the copyright allows, but please note these types of publications are not covered by the REF 2021 Open Access policy and therefore do not need to be uploaded to the repository in order to be REF-eligible.
However, please note that we do not deposit corrections, or abstracts (including conference/meeting abstracts) in Apollo.
You can add new items by clicking '+add' from the publications facet of your Elements home page.
and then choose the type of document you want to deposit
In addition to the accepted manuscript, you can also upload Supplementary Information files. You can upload as many files as needed, as long as each do not exceed the 2GB limit per individual file on Symplectic Elements.
