Most funders require you to include them in your published article's acknowledgements/funding section.
Acknowledgements should follow these guidelines;
- the funding agency name should be written in full
- the grant number should be in square brackets
- multiple grant numbers should be separated by a comma and space
- funding agencies should be separated by a semi-colon.
E.g. 'This work was supported by the Wellcome Trust [grant number], [grant number]; Medical Research Council [grant number] and Cancer Research UK [grant number]'
If you wish to use rights retention in your submission, then you should also include the following wording:
"For the purpose of open access, the author has applied a Creative Commons Attribution (CC BY) licence to any Author Accepted Manuscript version arising from this submission."
If you have any queries or require guidance on this, then please contact us.
If you don’t correctly acknowledge your funder, it can cause problems, in particular, the Open Access Team will be unable to pay your open access fee if your funder is not acknowledged.
